Emergency Procedures Improvement
Part 1
During an emergency, nobody thinks to themselves "I overprepared for this." Handling critical emergencies requires sound knowledge, and proficiency. EPI Academics is designed to provide refresher training for knowledge that may be getting stale, broaden the learners base of "general knowledge", and provide a focused discussion on handling and preparing for common emergencies.
What makes actual emergencies hard? How can we as operators cope with these challenges? Understand our approach to teaching emergency procedures and what we will cover in this course.
Lesson 2: Engine Failures
Briefly review FAA minimum standards for preforming emergency procedures, go over proactive steps you can take to prevent them, an in-depth discussion of common engine failure procedures, the reasons behind them, and an in-depth discussion of how to handle and prepare for low altitude engine failures.
Lesson 3: The Landing
Once you have executed the proper engine failure procedures, there is still a chance you will need to make a forced landing. Understand the benefits and hazards of different landing locations, the tools you have manage your energy state, and how you can give yourself the best chance of success.
Lesson 4: Engine Fires
Engine fires present several unique challenges. There are additional time constraints which may not be present in other emergencies, and require understanding and weighing of several different risk factors when choosing what procedures to execute.
